Districtry — fleet traffic report

July 10 – August 29, 2026 · 51 days

A note on the window and the paths: tracking began at launch on July 10, so this is the fleet's entire recorded history (51 days) through the last full day. Until August 24 the Illinois app was served from / at chidistricts.com; that day it moved under /il/ and / became the fleet landing page. The series spans both, so / is counted as Illinois before the cutover and as the landing page after it — on the boundary day itself the split is taken at 11:00 UTC, the hour /il/ first recorded traffic. Wisconsin joined the fleet on the same day and is included below. Counts are GoatCounter "visits": cookieless, identity-free. The 2,252 figure is unique visits across the whole window; the daily columns re-count a returning visitor on each day they appear, which is why they sum higher.

Daily activity

Every visitor who lands on the site (blue) plus every feature they use — point selections, searches, layer toggles (orange). August 24 — the day the rebrand and the fleet reorganisation shipped — is the single busiest day on record, at 133. August 25 is not a slump. Google Safe Browsing flagged the day-old districtry.com domain that morning, and Chrome shows its warning before the page loads, so blocked visits never reached the counter at all. The flag was a false positive and has since been cleared; the day is under-counted by an unknown amount and cannot be reconstructed. Since then it has settled into a band rather than a spike: 93, 66, 72 and 30 on the four days to August 30, against a pre-rebrand average of 39. The last of those is a Sunday, the quietest weekday here and the first day since the rebrand to fall below that average. The Illinois SEO pages keep compounding — /il/police-district.html is at 18 visits and /il/school-board.html at 14 — and August 27 remains the strongest day since the rebrand at 93.

By instance

Page visits split by path prefix — which app in the fleet people actually opened.

Six bars: five apps and the fleet landing page. Iowa joined the fleet manifest at 01:24 UTC on 28 August, so it is listed on the landing page now — for most of this window it was live and in the sitemap but unlisted, which is how it drew a visit from a page that did not offer it. Read the ranking as age, not quality: until August 24 the non-Illinois tags pointed at GoatCounter sites that did not exist and every one of their visits was dropped, unrecoverable. Illinois has seven weeks of history; the rest have days. These six sum to 958 of 958 page visits: each instance is counted from its own path query rather than from one shared top-ten list, which used to drop an instance's sub-pages once that list filled.

Most-toggled layers

Which district layers people actually reach for. Top 10 of those recorded.

The classic Chicago question wins: ward toggles nearly double the runner-up, with state and federal legislative layers close behind. One caveat on these ids: events share a single namespace across the fleet, so a layer that exists in more than one city (congress) would sum across them, while city-specific ids (ward = Illinois, council = New York, supervisor-district = San Francisco) are unambiguous. In this window the blending is still negligible — the other five instances have 21 page visits between them against Illinois's 699 — so these counts are effectively all Illinois. That stops being true as the others grow.

How readers arrive

Top referrers across all 2,252 visits.

Bluesky holds the #3 source spot and LinkedIn the #4. Search engines together (Google, DuckDuckGo, Bing) account for 398 visits. This is a top-six list — GoatCounter's dashboard shows a “Show more” beyond it that this page cannot query into. The six sum to 1,950 of 2,252 visits, so a named search engine's true total could run higher than what is shown here.

Campaigns

Visits from links tagged with ?utm_campaign=…utm_source tags count in the referrer list above.

Devices

Operating systems.

62% of visits are mobile (iOS + Android) — the map is mostly being used on phones, which is why the home-screen install matters.

Browsers

Chrome and Safari cover 96% of visits between them.
